Years of technology experience
Experience shaping decisions, strengthening foundations and helping organisations move from uncertainty to practical action.
THE PERSON BEHIND BASTIONHOST
I help people make difficult technology decisions when the answer isn't obvious. That means asking what happens after the demo, who owns the risk and whether the organisation can support what it's about to build. I stay close enough to help with what comes next.
MY POINT OF VIEW
Technology can remove friction, widen access and give people time back. It can also create expensive dependencies, hide risk behind a polished interface and move faster than an organisation’s ability to govern it.
That tension is where I do my best work. I'm comfortable moving between the leadership conversation and the technical reality, translating each for the other and keeping the outcome, not the fashion, at the centre.
EXPERIENCE & SCOPE
My work spans technology strategy, cyber security, systems, delivery, innovation and operational resilience. I move between leadership priorities and technical realities so that advice remains useful after the meeting ends.
Experience shaping decisions, strengthening foundations and helping organisations move from uncertainty to practical action.
Comfortable translating risk, investment and operating choices between leadership teams, technical specialists and delivery partners.
Focused on security, support, accountable ownership, measurable outcomes and a workable route out when technology no longer earns its place.

HOW I SHOW UP
A tool is not a strategy. I want to understand the outcome, the people affected and the simplest responsible way forward.
If the evidence says stop, simplify or choose something other than AI, that's the answer I'll give.
Advice earns its value when it survives real systems, real constraints and the Monday morning after launch.
Every important system needs accountable ownership, sensible controls and a plan for when it fails or is no longer useful.
THE WORK AFTER THE DEMOBuilding is becoming easier. Owning the outcome is still the work.
NOTES & OBSERVATIONS
I write about the gap between what technology promises and what responsible ownership requires in practice.
Policy alone does not contain an agent. Identity, containment, monitoring, approval boundaries and accountable ownership have to exist in the system itself.

As a parent of young children, online safety isn't an abstract policy topic. It's part of everyday family life. I share the practical steps I use at home to make accounts, devices and online habits safer, without turning every conversation into fear or jargon.
